This past Sunday there was nothing to eat in the house. Even the flour bag was looking light! Luckily, we had all the ingredients for this simple, sweet-enough-for-the-kids apple bread. (You know if you have flour and eggs in the house you can probably make something!)
I found this recipe in an old cookbook at my mom's house - you can buy it used online, there's lots of good stuff in it: Apple Kitchen Cookbook.
I only tweaked the recipe a tiny bit, so here it is in its entirety:
I used butter for shortening and omitted the walnuts so my nut-hater wouldn't pick them out.
Alternate the ingredients and don't overmix the batter or your bread will be too dense.
Bon appétit!
I wouldn't be able to follow the final instruction, "do not slice until cold."
